Point & Shoot Test – Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS
This weekend I tested a p&s camera for my Mum who was looking for a new little camera for upcoming holidays. The criteria were that it needed to have a viewfinder, use rechareable batteries, be 8.0MP or higher and come with a good rating in Consumer Report.

We looked at several and decided on the Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS. It came highly recommended in the Consumer Report but since it is an older model it was difficult to find but we were finally able too.
Here are some camera details:
- 8.0 MP
- ISO 1600
- 16:9 wide screen
- Various shot modes and photo effects
- SD/SDHC Memory Card
- optical image stabilizer

I used the camera for a day before giving it to my Mum. Here are a few more examples – none of these images have been cropped or digitally altered, only sized for web.

Overall I was very pleased with the camera as a point and shoot it does a really nice job – it’s super small and will fit easily into a handbag or pocket. It’s also very cost effective at a price point less than $200.
