Toy Camera Joy!

bbf

So I was reading the latest issue of Shutterbug magazine and enjoying a lovely article on Toy Cameras which are one of my hobbies (and I almost always have one with me). I really love my holga camera and would say the only thing that bothers me sometimes is that there is no where nearby that I can go to get the film developed.

Enter, Blackbird Fly (BBF) a Japanese toy double reflex camera that uses 35mm film (instead of 120) and can take rectangular, square and photos over the whole film but can be processed anywhere! I was SO excited to read about this camera and have started the hunt to find and buy it!

While doing some research last night I found a cool website called Audiocubes which has a wide variety of Japanese toy cameras which are really cool, including a camera that looks like a juice box, a camera that makes cat sounds and a digital camera with a built in printer. They also sell the BBF.

So there is likely a new toy camera in my future – for more information on the BBF you can visit it’s website (in english and japanese).

This week I’ve been gearing up for another photo shoot at the end of the week and an event shoot next week but also updating my bio and creating an artist statement for an upcoming show. It’s exciting getting into the swing of things and taking some time to enjoy the creative side of life!
