3 Sisters cake
…and not corn, beans and squash! A cake I made with 2 of my sisters!
For months I’ve been promising my 2 youngest sisters that I would show them how to do a fondant cake and yesterday was the day! Sunday afternoon they came out with a pre-made chocolate cake. I had mixed some different fondant colors and made some extra vanilla buttercream icing for underneath.
First I showed them how to make a marshmallow fondant – which is actually very simple – and they choose a color for that fondant. We iced the cake and I rolled out the fondant which we all layed onto the cake.
After we put the marshmallow fondant we set the cake aside and started making the daisies and gerbera. They are a good “basic” fondant flower to start with. Then we made some “generic” flowers – they are with the medium and large sized cherry blossom cutters you cut the inside out of the larger flower and then swap colors.
Many hands make for light work – my sisters did most of the hard work after I did a demo. I helped by making the centers to the daisies and gerberas.
Then it was time to add the flowers onto the cake.
Once all the flowers were on it was time for photos!
Here is a close up.
I think they did a really great job and it was really fun to make a cake with some of my sisters!
