A work cake spectacular!

This week my friend and I had the exciting task of creating a cake for our friend’s birthday – the catch – we needed to decorate it in a tight timeframe at work.

How does a person manage this one might ask?
Step 1: GSL makes the cake at home and the chocolate filling.
Step 2: I make the vanilla buttercream icing in teal at home with as many little cherry blossoms as I can

Step 3: Bring icing, flowers, filling, cake, and fondant to work.
Step 4: Put cake together and ice it. (Actually I made extra icing because I was concerned about not having enought). While I started the icing GSL mixed the yellow fondant for the branches. Then we switched and I rolled out the branches while she completed the icing.
Step 5: stick the flowers onto the cake.
And voila! A completed office-birthday cake!

It was a really fun little project on a Friday! Phew! One more cake to go!

Beautiful as always. I think I know where that ‘one more cake’ is going and I am excited!
