I want to wake up in the city that never sleeps!
So last night we arrived late to the hotel due to weather conditions here in NY state – but we were very grateful that the flight was only delayed by about 45 minutes.
However, we had made reservations at Tao for 10pm and arrived at the hotel at 9:30 – determined to make our reservations after we found out that we couldn’t change the reservations without having to wait until 11:30 we rushed up to the room and like whirling tops changed and grabbed essentials.
We left the hotel after 10pm and were told had a 10 minute walk to the restaurant…well, maybe a 10 minute run! Once we got to Madison we decided to take things up a notch and LP and I made a dash for it…and arrived at the restaurant at 10:12 – just in time as they hold reservations for only 15 minutes (exactly!).
As part of restaurant week they were offering a special menu, 3 courses for $35, so we each decided to take it. LP and I started with the Tao Temple Salad; a mix of fresh greens, with a mix of cucumber, peas, watercrest and won ton crisps on top; it was delicious!
My husband choose the Tuna rolls which came with wasabi dipping sauce. I didn’t have any but LP and Himself both agreed that it was excellent!
I found the portions extremely generous – especially my main dish which was a spicy (but not too spicy) Kung Pao chicken. LP got the Chilean Sea Bass which she said was excellent, but that I forgot to photograph and my husband got the Wasabi Crusted Filet Mignon.
For desserts we had a choice of banana bread pudding, ginger fruit, chocolate spring rolls and the sugar dusted doughnuts. The waiter recommended the first and last as his favorites which is what we ended up ordering.
Banana Bread Pudding
Sugar Dusted doughnuts
The whole thing was really great – the atmosphere and food were excellent and the DJ and live sax player were cool too.
so that’s it for now – on our way to breakfast before hitting the streets!
