New York City by Night

Our long weekend in New York was really amazing and go, go, go every day. We tried to fit as much into our trip as we could. At night we did a lot of walking, our “flâneur walking tours of New York” (as coined by my husband) – we just went where ever we thought looked cool and found a lot of the places we wanted to see.

We took hundreds ( into the thousands really) of photos so I’ve selected a bunch of the evening ones for this post.

The Apple Store on 5th Avenue. It was really cool and open really late!

This chuch had many homeless people sleeping outside – some had constructed cardboard structures to protect them from the elements – it was really rainy last week.

The Police in Time Square – even they had the bright lights on their sign!

In Time Square artists lined the streets to do charicatures and sketches of tourists or anyone willing to sit for about 30-45mins. Some of them were very talented at making incredible life drawings.

The second night we walked around some of the places we saw on our hop on-hop off bus tour. We found Grand Central station by accident but was really cool at night.

The amount of people in here at night is another example of how this city really never sleeps!

Rockefeller at night was really cool – we didn’t go up this time but I definitely would like to next time.

The city at night was incredible – although I think we did miss seeing stars in the sky!

From the Chrysler building we could see the Empire State Building so decided to walk there before turning back. When we arrived it was nearly 12:30am but the building was still open to go up so we decided to take advantage.

Earlier in the day there were 4 hour wait times, we got up in less than 15 minutes!

Although I am afraid of heights I made the most of our view from the top and took as many photos as I could.

It was incredible to see the city at night – we really never felt uncomfortable or unsafe walking together at night although we made a great effort to always walk on popular tourist streets.

Looks like an amazing trip! Confirms me wanting to go there with Andrew…not sure I’ll have the same eye as you on the photos though. These are amazing…as usual.
