i carry your heart with me
I’ve been working on a photography project – previously described – but to present the poem “i carry your heart with me” by ee cummings as part of a wedding gift. My friend and I went over several concepts and here is the results of some of them. I downloaded a typewriter font and removed pages from my notebook and printed the poem onto the pages and then put them back into the notebook.
The story I had in my mind was someone walking on the beach reading this poem but it also has the ring reflecting the heart onto the pages. I picked a few little violets at home and pinned them onto the pages and then literally walked on the beach taking these photos. I was really happy with the results.
I walked over to the water and along the beach – I really liked the effect and I got some great heart shapes too.
After doing these shots I went back to another concert we discussed but I decided to make the photos look double exposed with the poem in the background.
Here is the first option.
Here is a cropped brownie holiday photo – I think it looks pretty vintage.
This is the photo I shared yesterday and I really like it with the poem.
“here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and
the sky of the sky of a tree called life which grows
Higher than soul can hope or mind can hide…”
- ee cummings
I think what I love most about this poem is the way I feel when I read it and the images it evokes in my mind. I really hope my friends like my interpretation!!
