Art Auction 2009
The art auction has come and gone and it was a really fun night and lots of great art! I was happy with how my pieces sold. I had 2 new pieces in the auction including the above Spirit Tree. Working off the original dream tree I started having dreams about another kind of tree – a spirit tree if you will. I imagined that all the little lights were tiny fireflies instead of leaves. The tree is alive with the spirit of my ancestors – with the roots connecting us all.
This piece is a lino print on handmade paper and hand-sewn beads.
I was really happy with how this turned out – I think it translated well onto paper how I pictured this particular tree variation in my mind.
I’ve also been working on a series of cards using my carved chief. These cards each have a word that is part of the 7 Grandfather’s teaching. I was very pleased with the results. These trading cards were time consuming but I would like to perhaps make another set.
I would maybe like to see a series of these printed in a higher quantity and I would like to mix in photographic images as well. Definitely something to continue with.
The event was a success and although I do not have the final number, I believe, over $15,000 was raised. I will try to post the final total when I hear it.
Thanks to everyone who supported the auction!

Congrats. I am glad it went so well for you.
I think the Spirit tree is just beautiful.
