Olympic Torch Relay
This morning was very exciting because the Olympic Torch relay was passing through Orleans. We woke up early and made it just in time to see the torch as it passed by.
We were fortune and were able to park our car on the other side of the street for a quick exit after the rolling convoy passed.
For those of you who don’t know. I love the olympics. I used to watch the winter olympics with my mum and sister every time they came around. I loved following the athletes, cheering for Canada and, yes, crying during the opening ceremony. Although we also watched the summer olympics – the winter olympics were our favorite, especially the skating.
Coca Cola was giving out flags and bottles of Coke.
I was very excited waiting for the torch – here is me (my mitten) with my Coke freebies.
It was very exciting when the torch was finally in sight and they were ready to pass the torch.
A high five and the torch passing is complete.
I’m not sure who red jacket is, but he’s in a lot of my photos.
I really wanted to show all the people waving there flags…but this looks like another photo of red jacket.
the energy was high – everyone was so excited.
I was caught behind the Olympic torch relay convoy earlier in the weekend but didn’t get to see the torch so it was great to finally see the torch in action.
Once the runner had passed I could hear the sound of boots hitting the pavement as many people were running along with the flame, adults and children alike. Everyone was smiling and cheering!
I may never have such a close Olympic experience again so this was a real thrill.
And once the convoy was gone the traffic started to flow again and we rushed off to drive to work. Now the countdown to the Olympics begins.
