Christmas

December 29th, 2009

Christmas eve mass was beautiful this year with a winter wonderland theme. It was so great to spend time with my family and friends. I was very lucky to receive some great toy and lofi cameras for Christmas including a build it myself stereo pinhole camera.

The weekend was really icy and wet – here is our Smart covered in ice.

From my family to yours – wishing you a very Blessed and Happy Christmas! Here is a beautiful stainglass window from Blessed Sacrament Church in Ottawa.

Luke 2:1-20 (New International Version)

Luke 2

The Birth of Jesus

1In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3And everyone went to his own town to register.

4So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

The Shepherds and the Angels

8And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 9An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ[a] the Lord. 12This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.”

13Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
14“Glory to God in the highest,
and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.”

15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

16So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

Christmas is coming…

December 5th, 2009

Last weekend I had the pleasure of celebrating Thanksgiving with my family in Tuscarora. It was so great being there with everyone after being away from there for so long. There is NOTHING like spending time with family.

A cake for Nanny

I really wanted to bake a cake for my Nanny and family. Unfortunately because my health has been questionable I wasn’t able to make one but I brought supplies to bake a cake and did a chocolate cake with buttercream icing and marshmallow fondant daisies. I think it turned out very cute and simple which was nice. (I was a little bummed that I didn’t do a thick enough crumb coat and some crumbs snuck through…)

marshmallow fondant daisies

Here is a close up of my marshmallow fondant daisies.

Now that Thanksgiving is past and I’ve been struggling with a stubborn sinus infection I still have been trying to keep up with my work, art and homemade Christmas gifts. Thursday night I had fun with LP making dinner and watching a movie at home and working on some carving. Read the rest of this entry »

Ikimono results

August 14th, 2009

For Christmas my sister got me a really cute toy camera

bee-alone-ikimono

It takes 110 film and basically is a point and shoot – zero options but is totally cute and fits almost anywhere!

I did a test roll and then forgot that I never picked them up and fortunately got a call on Tuesday and went to get them. The results varied and I think a lot of photos didn’t turn out because I would accidentally press the button when the lens was closed but that said I did get a few interesting shots.

Lily ikimono

Of course, I always have to get a picture of Lily on my first roll – this image is super grainy (still no printer or scanner at home so these are pictures of pictures) but at least the color quality was pretty good.
