This past weekend we were invited to hear our friends perform with their band the Studio Rockets. A bunch of people from our soccer team joined us to make it a fun evening.

The first band up was Cold Coffee and Salty Boots.

Then the Studio Rockets!

Working in the low, red light conditions were challenging with my lumix but I was still happy with the pics – I did not like the quality of photo when using the flash and I felt it really lost the atmosphere as well.

Most of my photos were taken at 1/8 to 1/10 s. and f/3.7 and 3.8 ISO 3200.
We had a great time and enjoyed some great music!

So I came to Edmonton this week for a conference and in the evenings I had to pass the time so the first night I ate in the hotel cafe since it was late and I wasn’t sure where was good nearby.

The cafe is called Pradera Café and had a lovely menu. I had a salad with bocconcini cheese, tomatoes and pine nuts. The dressing was light and flavorful.

Yesterday we celebrated my husband’s 30th birthday. It was a really fun party and I made the cake! I wanted to make it to his taste and incorporate a car cutout. Unfortunately, the 3rd tier didn’t happen but I was still really happy with the cake. It was a chocolate cake with chocolate marshmallow fondant. I haven’t made a lot of 2 tier cakes so I was really happy with how the tiers worked out.

This weekend I went to So You Think You Can Dance Canada with a friend and her family. It was her daughters first concert – which is always exciting. We were sitting in the 7th row so we had an amazing view. I was happy because it’s always easier to get good concert photos when you are close and having to use a P&S camera.
