Tonight I finally printed my linocut for the first time. I was very excited to finally have everything and get some prints made. The design is based on a dream I had about birds flying around a tree like they were the leaves. I adapted it for the cut and am very happy with the results. Read the rest of this entry »

My dad and I teach a printmaking workshop on Tuesday nights, sometimes he teaches alone, or I do or we teach together (which is my favorite) and my dad developed the workshop. The prints we make with the teens are called “Summer Birds”. I love photographing the birds when they are all laid out on the floor – I think it’s really amazing how different each print is even though they are using the same paint, supplies and nearly the same or similar stencils. Watching the kids be creative and expressive is really cool – sometimes they think they can’t do but I love it when they get passed that and all this creativity comes out on the paper.
I’m really looking forward to doing more workshops and also to working on my photographic and print making projects!
