Ravens

October 19th, 2010

The past few weekends when the Ravens were at home I’ve been bundled up cheering for the home team.

As some of you know over the last year I’ve become a bigger fan of soccer, playing and watching. I’ve been learning the rules of the game and enjoying the strategy that goes along with the sport.

When I watch I am often near the Red Zone – Ravens fans and this weekend was no exception. Now, I’m no cheer leader but some of the cheers were familiar to me…except they got it wrong. So here goes, Raven fans get out your cue cards:

One we are the best,

Two we can’t be beat,

Three a little bit louder

Four more, more, more

S-UPER, Super that’s what we are! S-UPER, Super that’s what we are!

S…UP…ER…ST…AR…SUPER STARS!

Here’s an old favorite from UWO:

*First take a knee and stretch out your arm like you are about to serenade someone (you are)*

We love you ravens, oh, yes we do!

We love you ravens and we’ll be true!

When you’re not near us, we’re blue!

Oh ravens, we love you!

(proper etiquette dictates that they should return the gesture – this is also fun to “flash mob” your favorite players anywhere on campus)

Go ravens, go ravens, go!

Go ravens, go ravens, go, go, go ravens!

Okay, that’s enough cheer-fulness for one week. P.s. I’ve got more Holga Raven photos to come!

World Cup Cupcakes

July 10th, 2010

In celebration of the World Cup finale, LP, LM and I got together Saturday morning to decorate some cupcakes. I wanted to incorporate soccer, red (for Spain) and orange (for Holland). We also used green for grass and some soccer themed cake decorations to finish it off.

I will post some more photos later!

Friday Flowers: Peony

July 9th, 2010

So it’s Friday – another week has flown by. This weekend we will be hosting a World Cup soccer finals party. I’m very excited as LP and I have gone shopping to get Spanish and Dutch inspired beverages and food. Tomorrow I will be working on some food preparation and cupcakes for the party with LM and LP. Of course, one must have soccer cupcakes for a soccer party. I’ve come up with some ideas for the cupcake toppers and hope we can skillfully execute them.

I will post some photos once they are complete!

Toronto FC

July 1st, 2010

I finally got to see my first Toronto FC soccer game with my husband, sister and her boyfriend. I was very excited to see them play LA Galaxy even though some of their best players were injured or playing in the World Cup.

There were lots of fans and the rain had stopped so it was looking good!

This crew was very lively and had huge flags as you can see.

There was action.

There was some acting.

Great snacks!

And a fun game – even with the nil-nil score!
